Baskets and Rock
Flexibilty is an important benefit of any gabion structure. Since the baskets are constructed of galvanized mesh wire and filled with rock, the flexibility of a gabion structure allows it to withstand pressure without deforming, cracking or breaking as in the case of concrete and other material.

Unique to gabion walls is the ability to allow water to dissipate through, while at the same time providing slope stabilization. The strength of a gabion wall is second to none. Since the baskets are joined together, the wire mesh is extremely strong under pressure or tension. The wire mesh contains the rock, and at the same time reinforces the entire structure. For walls higher than 2 meters, geo-grid tieback is installed between each 1 meter lift to fortify the overall structural integrity of larger gabion walls.
